I sometimes wonder:
If one achieves all that he has set out to do in life, what else is there for him to live for?
Would he strive to leave behind a legacy of his own? Or would he attempt to lead a totally different life; to try living life in someone else's shoes perhaps.
One thing I've noticed is that some people can indulge themselves in luxury all they want
but never find satisfaction. And there are those who work hard just to sustain their hedonistic pursuits. To some, the pub or disco has become a place of worship(of worldly pleasures)!
Yet at closing time, do all the revellers leave their favourite nightspots feeling like they had a great time? Would that kind of "high" sustain them or lift their spirits throughout the rest of their working-lives? Or would they sober-up one morning; after a hang-over, to find themselves still hungry for something more than any human-relationship or comfort foods can provide...
Here is a song that speaks to me so much about how God has worked in my life..
Have a listen here .

Here I am, Oh God
I bring this sacrifice--my open heart.
I offer up my life.
I look to You, Lord
Your love that never ends
Restores me again
So I lift my eyes to you Lord
In your strength will I break through Lord
Touch me now, let your love fall down on me
I know your love dispels all my fears.
Through the storm I will hold on Lord
And by faith I will walk on, Lord
Then I'll see beyond my calvary one day
And I will be complete in
I will be complete in
I will be complete in You

I believe I stumbled upon it, not by chance, but by the awesome and mysterious ways of God. And His hand is always at work in our hearts, moulding us to be just like his Son; teaching us to love as He loved.

To those of you who think God is somewhere far away in the cosmos, know this:
His presence is everywhere. Whenever. Wherever.
In fact, at this very moment, His hand is gently knocking on the door of your heart.
Patiently waiting so that He may have even just a minute or two,
from your hecitc life, to spend with you.
He relishes the times when you call upon Him;
He's always been wanting to have a relationship with you.
When you get to know Him and trust in His plans to prosper you,
you won't be too puzzled about life anymore.
God enjoys putting the puzzle-pieces of our lives into place.
Even if you only find Him in the twilight years of your life,
the heavens will still rejoice!
No joy is there like finding oneself complete in Him.
With God, we're complete.

finally...comes good fruit (of wisdom) after a rather long blog drought.
what you have said is true and that man himself can't find true and real satisfaction from the things of this world.
it's sad that the world is falling in love with itself...forgetting about the Almighty which created it and them in the first place. it's sad also to see creation pursuing fellow creation for whatever reason (fame, fortune, pleasure, etc) and forgetting about the Creator.
the world is a tempting place. the things of this world will try to overwhelm us and pull us away from God. this means we must stand firm in the faith and lean on Him no matter what.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Titus 2:11-12
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world - the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does - comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17
Hey Dom,
really appreciate yr affirming words. I get too absorbed, by matters of the world at times and
at other times, in my own world; that I think fail to listen to God's voice.
Those verses you quoted are indeed a timely encouragement in this season of my academic life. I will meditate on them and pray to hang on tight to His Word every moment.
Thanks for dropping by again~
(I guess I've yet to get my habit of journaling/blogging regularly in place.. (>.<)
Glad to see that you have pondered about this question. Many people lived their lives thinking they have a great purpose in life, but some point of time in the midst of living out that life, the purpose may disappear but when you focus on the Lord, HE's eternal and you'll never worry about losing him unless you don't want him.
to Eugene and WJ:
How true that is indeed!
I must say though, that: At times, I get distracted from God-given joy by enjoyable things of the world too.. :( I find I need to consciously tune-in to His divine-frequency, and give thanks for all things to constantly remind myself of His mercy, grace and provisions.
Hope to update this place more often too.. ;-)
to WJ:
